Genisys Credit Union Mastercard AwardGenisys Credit Union received Mastercard®’s Doing Well by Doing Good Award for their efforts with Clarkston Family Farm (CFF), a nonprofit educational farm. With accessibility in mind, the credit union invested $35,000 in CFF’s Pathways to Possibilities project to create seamless, safe, and accessible walkways throughout the farm.

“At Genisys, we are driven to invest in partners like Clarkston Family Farm who are actively creating inclusive spaces where every member of our community can gather, connect, and grow,” said Jackie Buchanan, President and CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “They embody our belief that community should feel like home for all. We are deeply grateful to Mastercard for honoring the vital importance of accessibility and recognizing our joint efforts.”

Mastercard®’s Doing Well by Doing Good Award recognizes a financial institution for best use of assets in community service or charitable contributions.

With the help of J&J Decorative Concrete of Clarkston, nearly ½ mile of concrete pathways were poured, expanding accessibility to key areas of the farm, including:

The new pathways ensure ADA compliance for learners with disabilities while enhancing the safety for young children, senior visitors, and families with strollers. Whether students are harvesting vegetables for homemade salsa making, learning about care for farm animals, or attending time honored events, the pathways provide opportunities for learners to connect with the farm in its entirety.

“Pathways to Possibilities began five years ago with the goal of creating safe access for all learners of the farm. It was - and still is - an ambitious project, but Genisys Credit Union has made this dream come true with their investment,” said Chelsea O’Brien, Founder and Executive Director, Clarkston Family Farm. “On behalf of the team at CFF and the nearly 36,000 individuals we serve each year, we want to thank Genisys for their extraordinary contributions to our mission. Together, we have created a legacy of learning that will have a profound and positive impact for many years to come.”

The credit union’s support to CFF’s Pathways to Possibilities reflects their commitment to fostering inclusivity and accessibility within their communities. By supporting the vision, they play an integral role in expanding the farm as a welcoming space where community members of all abilities can connect, learn, and grow together. At Genisys, the team is Committed to Community every step of the way.
