What’s Cookin’? Genisys Credit Union & Taste the Local Difference® partner to bring cooking demonstrations to local farmers markets

Published 6/28/2022

What's Cookin'Genisys Credit Union is excited to continue their partnership with Taste the Local Difference® to bring “What’s Cookin’?,” a cooking demo series, to Metro Detroit farmers markets this season. Each demo will feature a seasonal recipe from a local chef with ingredients shoppers can find at the farmers market.

“By partnering with Taste the Local Difference, we are able to offer a unique experience for market goers to create connections with local farmers, food, and chefs,” said Jackie Buchanan, President & CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “Our hope is that market goers become inspired to cook with local ingredients; strengthening the relationship between food & community.”

The cooking demonstrations will take place from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Rochester, Royal Oak, Plymouth, and Oakland County Farmers Markets starting in July and running through October. Find more information about the 12 scheduled demos at the Genisys Credit Union (@GenisysCU) and Taste the Local Difference (@localdifference) Facebook Pages under Events.

“These cooking demos were a huge success last year and we’re excited to offer them again in 2022,” said Paul Green, Taste the Local Difference’s Local Food Retail Specialist. “Market goers light up when they get to try something new and the chefs love to share their craft and passion for local ingredients.”

A special thank you to the local chefs who are dedicating their time to the demonstrations: Sam Van Buren and Jerome Brown from Detroit Soul, the team at Parker Grant, and Omar Anani of Saffron De Twah.
