OLHSA Walk for Warmth Check PresentationThroughout the past year, members, employees, friends, and family of Genisys Credit Union raised funds for Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) annual Walk for Warmth campaign. From their efforts, the credit union is proud to make a $30,027 donation to OLHSA.

“Working in partnership with service agencies like OLHSA gives Genisys an opportunity to support our community neighbors,” said Jackie Buchanan, President & CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “A big thank you to our employees, members, friends and family for the dedication and enthusiasm they have towards our fundraising campaign to benefit OLHSA’s Walk for Warmth. This would not be possible without your support.”

During the year, Genisys staff hosts a variety of fundraisers throughout the credit union’s Oakland County branches and their Corporate Office to raise funds to donate to Walk for Warmth.

"Walk donations reduce energy and housing burdens for local families and provide connections to Community Action programs such as early education, employment coaching, weatherization of homes, and older adult services that support family economic success," said Dr. Susan Harding, OLHSA CEO. "The collaborative efforts between OLHSA and Genisys Credit Union played a pivotal role in empowering vulnerable communities and addressing energy-related challenges. The funds raised through the Walk for Warmth initiative made a tangible difference in the lives of over 250 people throughout Oakland County in the past year. Notably, 74% of those who received assistance from Walk for Warmth were children, older adults, people with disabilities, and veterans – underscoring the positive impact on the most vulnerable members of our society," added Dr. Harding.

Walk for Warmth is an annual community event that brings together individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations to help vulnerable households by raising funds to provide assistance for heating expenses during the winter months.
