Can I withdraw funds from a certificate account before the end of the term?
You can withdraw your funds anytime you would like, but you will generally incur an early withdrawal penalty if you do so before the end of your term. The penalty amount depends on the term of the certificate and the amount of your withdrawal. Penalties are 90 days of earned dividends for certificates with terms of one year or less to 182 days for terms longer than one year and less than five years, to 365 days for a term of five years. This penalty amount may reduce your principal amount.
The Genisys Flex Certificate provides an exception. It allows a one-time penalty-free withdrawal of 25% of your principal during the term.
